Commercial Space Federation Welcomes ORBITInsure and Renaissance Strategic Advisors as New Members

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Commercial Space Federation (CSF), a prominent advocate for the commercial aerospace sector, announced the addition of two major organizations to its expanding roster on September 21, 2026. ORBITInsure and Renaissance Strategic Advisors (RSA) have officially joined the federation, bringing advanced capabilities in space insurance, risk intelligence, industry strategy, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to the organization’s collaborative councils.

ORBITInsure has joined the federation in the capacity of a Space Supply Chain member. Meanwhile, Renaissance Strategic Advisors has taken on multiple roles, joining as an Associate Member while also securing membership in both the Space Supply Chain Council and the State and Local Council. The inclusion of these two entities underscores the growing maturity, financial complexity, and economic integration of the modern commercial space economy as it addresses new operational and regulatory frontiers.

Bridging Mission Engineering and Risk Transfer

ORBITInsure operates at the critical intersection of mission engineering and traditional insurance markets. The company specializes in transforming complex technical, environmental, and operational mission data into actionable risk intelligence. By converting sophisticated engineering metrics into clear risk profiles, ORBITInsure enables brokers, underwriters, space mission operators, and financial investors to make faster, more data-driven decisions across the entire lifecycle of a space insurance policy.

As the commercial space sector rapidly diversifies—launching everything from large constellations of low Earth orbit communication satellites to lunar commercial payloads—the mechanisms for managing financial exposure and insuring high-stakes missions have grown increasingly complex. ORBITInsure’s approach aims to demystify these technical hurdles for financial stakeholders.

Robert Whearty, Chief Executive Officer of ORBITInsure, emphasized the strategic importance of joining the federation during this period of industry expansion.

"Through our membership in the Commercial Space Federation, ORBITInsure is committed to strengthening the resilience and growth of the commercial space ecosystem by making data-driven risk transfer more accessible to emerging and established space ventures alike," Whearty stated.

Strategic Expertise and Market Intelligence

Founded in 2007, Renaissance Strategic Advisors (RSA) has established itself as a leading strategy and M&A advisory firm focused primarily on the aerospace, defense, and government sectors. The firm’s core purpose is to bring clarity, rigorous analysis, and high-level strategic confidence to its clients as they navigate consequential business initiatives, corporate transactions, and complex market shifts.

By joining the CSF’s Space Supply Chain Council (S2C2) and the State and Local Council, RSA intends to bring its deep analytical expertise directly to bear on the economic and structural challenges confronting the wider aerospace supply chain. As commercial space companies scale up manufacturing, address supply bottlenecks, and navigate a shifting macroeconomic landscape, independent data-driven insights are vital for both industry stakeholders and policymakers.

Mikhail Grinberg, Senior Partner at Renaissance Strategic Advisors, highlighted the firm’s objectives within the federation’s collaborative framework.

"As the leading aerospace and defense focused strategy and M&A firm, Renaissance Strategic Advisors is excited to join CSF’s Space Supply Chain Council, where we will collaborate to solve economic challenges facing the industry and our clients," Grinberg said. "We also look forward to partnering with CSF on research, events, and providing data-driven insights to key stakeholders to help shape the future of the commercial space industry."

The Ongoing Mission of the Commercial Space Federation

The expansion of the CSF membership comes as the organization marks significant milestones in its advocacy and industry-building efforts. Founded two decades ago in 2006, the Commercial Space Federation and its diverse member companies have worked collectively to lay the groundwork for democratizing access to outer space. The federation’s broad community includes scientists, students, private citizens, and commercial businesses, all united by the broader goal of expanding a robust, sustainable U.S. commercial space economy.

Throughout its history, the CSF has championed technological innovation to bolster American leadership in aerospace engineering and exploration, while simultaneously working to inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists, and spacefarers. Beyond fostering private sector collaboration, the federation functions as the commercial space industry’s primary institutional advocate in Washington, D.C.

In this advocacy role, the CSF engages directly with members of the U.S. Congress and the Executive Branch to help inform the development, refinement, and implementation of national space policy priorities. By maintaining a continuous dialogue with key legislative and administrative players, the federation provides expert recommendations on critical commercial space issues. These policy positions are designed to shape both short-term operational frameworks and long-term regulatory structures, ensuring that the U.S. commercial space sector continues to thrive in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.
