NBA, WNBA, and AT&T Announce Fourth-Generation High-Speed Arena Network and Extend Multi-Year Partnership

The National Basketball Association, the Women’s National Basketball Association, and telecommunications giant AT&T have officially announced the launch of the fourth generation of the High-Speed Arena Network. This latest evolution of the leagues’ digital connectivity platform is engineered to quickly and reliably transport live game content, immediate highlights, instant replays, in-arena entertainment programming, and advanced real-time statistics directly to fans, media outlets, and business partners. At the same time, the robust network infrastructure serves as the critical digital backbone enabling the behind-the-counter and on-court technology that supports day-to-day game operations across arenas nationwide.

The unveiling of the fourth-generation HSAN represents a major leap forward in sports broadcasting and arena technology. Supported by more than 68,000 miles of AT&T’s expansive fiber and advanced network infrastructure, the newly upgraded system is designed to handle unprecedented data demands. Specifically, the network will have the capacity to transport more than 118 concurrent, high-quality, low-latency streams per game. This immense technological capability is projected to support millions of hours of basketball consumption during the 2027-28 NBA season, ensuring that viewers, whether watching from home, on mobile devices, or from inside the arena, experience seamless, high-definition coverage without interruption.

In tandem with the technological rollout, AT&T, the NBA, and the WNBA have announced the multi-year extension of their longstanding marketing partnership. Under the terms of the renewed agreement, AT&T continues in its prominent role as the Official Connectivity Partner of both leagues. This ongoing collaboration builds upon a strong foundation that officially began in 2018, growing over the years into one of the most comprehensive technology and marketing sponsorships in professional sports. Furthermore, the partnership extension ensures the continuation of AT&T’s collaborative relationships with the NBA G League, USA Basketball, and NBA Take-Two Media, touching every level of competitive basketball and esports within the broader league ecosystem.

As part of the newly extended marketing arrangement, AT&T and the NBA plan to introduce a series of new fan touchpoints. These initiatives will encompass fresh digital and physical content as well as retail activations designed to debut around the American Express NBA Tip-Off. Basketball enthusiasts can look forward to expanded opportunities to engage directly with prominent NBA stars and AT&T-affiliated athletes, including standout player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Through unique experiential events, special access moments, and original content rollouts scheduled throughout the course of the NBA season, the partnership aims to bring supporters closer to the game than ever before.

Additionally, AT&T will continue its targeted regional efforts to connect fans with their favorite teams and players through longstanding partnerships with several premier franchises, including the Chicago Bulls, the Dallas Mavericks, the Miami HEAT, and the LA Clippers. These localized collaborations have historically allowed the brand to integrate deeply into local fanbases, offering tailored experiences, community outreach programs, and enhanced arena connectivity that enrich the overall live sports experience.
