DURANGO, Colo. — Agile Space Industries announced a significant strengthening of its corporate governance and strategic leadership team, positioning the aerospace firm for its next major phase of commercial and national security expansion. The Durango-based propulsion developer officially welcomed veteran aerospace executive and financier Jonathan Baliff to its Board of Directors, alongside the appointment of Theo Squires as the company’s new Director of Strategy and Corporate Development.
The dual appointments arrive at a pivotal juncture for Agile Space Industries, as the company scales its operations to meet surging demand across both commercial markets and national security programs. In particular, the firm’s recent selection for the prestigious SpaceWERX Strategic Funding Increase (STRATFI) program has provided a vital catalyst for its ongoing evolution. This program strongly backs Agile’s expanding capacity to supply complete propulsion subsystems, moving beyond components to offer comprehensive, integrated solutions for modern spacecraft and launch vehicles.
As the company works to transition these major program wins into scaled manufacturing and long-term operational success, leadership recognized the critical need to bolster its financial oversight, capital formation capabilities, and strategic roadmap.
Chris Pearson, Chief Executive Officer of Agile Space Industries, emphasized that the company’s rapid technical progress must be matched by equally robust financial and strategic infrastructure.
"Agile has built significant momentum, and our next phase of growth requires the financial capability and oversight to match our technical expertise," said Pearson. "Jonathan’s experience in aerospace, capital formation and corporate transformation, combined with Theo’s focus on strategy and corporate development, will help us evaluate new opportunities, make strategic investments and position Agile for sustainable, long-term growth."
Jonathan Baliff Joins Board of Directors
Bringing a wealth of multidisciplinary experience spanning aerospace engineering, finance, and high-level corporate leadership, Jonathan Baliff assumes his new role on Agile’s Board of Directors with a proven track record of guiding advanced technology companies through complex growth cycles.
Baliff’s career reflects deep roots in both the defense and private sectors. A former U.S. Air Force aviator and engineer, he developed an intimate understanding of aerospace operations before transitioning into major corporate finance and executive leadership. He currently serves as an operating partner at Genesis Park, a private investment firm where he played a central role in the formation and financing of Redwire Corporation, subsequently serving as its chief financial officer. Prior to his work with Redwire, Baliff held the demanding position of president and chief executive officer at Bristow Group, and earned significant financial and strategic leadership experience holding senior positions at NRG Energy and Credit Suisse.
Throughout his career, Baliff has specialized in raising capital, guiding strategic investments, and steering organizations through demanding periods of scale and transformation. This background is expected to directly benefit Agile as the company expands its physical infrastructure, invests in high-rate production capabilities, and navigates an increasingly competitive and dynamic global space market.
Reflecting on his new appointment, Baliff expressed confidence in the company’s technical foundation and market positioning.

"Agile has proven it has the technology and operational expertise to compete, win, and profitably grow in a rapidly evolving space market," Baliff said. "Our customers and capital providers will partner with us as we scale Agile’s technology, expand capacity, and efficiently deploy capital to support the company’s growth. I look forward to working with Chris, our proven team and board to help Agile capitalize on the significant opportunities ahead."
Expanding Corporate Development to Support Long-Term Strategy
To further support its corporate expansion and capital allocation strategies, Agile has brought in Theo Squires to fill the newly highlighted role of Director of Strategy and Corporate Development.
Squires brings a unique blend of international defense experience and elite management consulting to the firm. Prior to joining Agile, he served as an intelligence officer in the Royal Australian Navy. During his naval service, his responsibilities included working closely on a significant bilateral space program involving both the United States and Australia, giving him direct insight into allied defense requirements and space architecture. Following his military service, Squires worked at the Boston Consulting Group, where he advised advanced manufacturing companies on complex operational strategies, market positioning, and corporate growth.
At Agile Space Industries, Squires will leverage this background to oversee capital formation efforts, direct strategic investments, and evaluate potential acquisitions of complementary technologies and capabilities. His overarching goal is to ensure that the company’s financial planning keeps pace with its ambitious technical scaling.
"Scaling advanced propulsion hardware requires both technical innovation and a disciplined approach to capital investment," said Squires. "Our focus is on building a financial foundation to support higher-rate production while identifying strategic opportunities that complement Agile’s existing capabilities. We see significant potential to expand what we can offer customers as the space propulsion market continues to evolve."
Recognizing Tom Rubin’s Contributions
As Agile restructures and evolves its governance framework to match its shifting strategic priorities, long-standing board member Tom Rubin is departing the company’s Board of Directors. However, Rubin’s institutional knowledge will not be lost to the firm; he will continue to support Agile and its executive leadership team in an advisory capacity.
During his tenure on the board, Rubin provided invaluable legal expertise and steady counsel, guiding the company through a foundational period of significant growth, commercial maturation, and complex contract negotiations. Agile leadership expressed deep gratitude for his years of dedicated service and noted that they look forward to continuing to draw upon his experience as the company charts its future course.
Agile Space Industries continues to cement its reputation as a trusted industry partner by developing advanced chemical propulsion solutions that empower spacecraft to navigate, maneuver, and successfully execute missions across Earth orbit and deep space. By integrating specialized propulsion expertise, cutting-edge additive manufacturing techniques, and rigorous in-house testing facilities under one roof, Agile is able to rapidly tackle complex engineering hurdles and accelerate hardware delivery timelines. The company works closely with prime aerospace contractors and agencies across the U.S. Government to support critical national security and commercial space flight programs.
