Vecima Networks Inc., trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker VCM, has officially announced the completion of its acquisition of Akleza’s CableDiag Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM) software platform alongside several related assets. This strategic move significantly bolsters Vecima’s proprietary Entra Intelligence portfolio by integrating CableDiag, a widely recognized and extensively deployed PNM software suite. The platform is currently utilized by more than 25 major cable operators to continuously monitor over five million DOCSIS devices across the North American market.
By bringing Akleza’s assets under its corporate umbrella, Vecima is positioning itself to capture a larger share of the rapidly expanding market for virtualized broadband access software. Industry projections from the DellOreo Group indicate that the overall virtualized core market for virtualized Cable Modem Termination Systems (vCMTS)—which encompasses proactive network maintenance, comprehensive device provisioning, and Operations Support System software—is poised for substantial growth. Market analysts estimate that this sector will reach approximately US$500 million annually by the year 2030, presenting significant opportunities for technology providers that offer advanced software solutions to telecommunications and cable service providers.
Clay McCreery, President and Chief Operating Officer of Vecima, emphasized the strategic importance of the transaction for the company’s long-term corporate objectives. According to McCreery, the acquisition of Akleza’s PNM software platform reflects Vecima’s disciplined and methodical approach to building enduring shareholder value through targeted, capability-extending acquisitions. He noted that CableDiag introduces an established, field-proven software platform and an impressive customer base, which immediately strengthens Vecima’s market position with leading North American cable operators. Furthermore, the integration is expected to expand the recurring revenue opportunities embedded within the company’s broader Entra product portfolio, marking another significant milestone in executing Vecima’s corporate growth strategy and delivering deeper value to both customers and investors.
Extending AI-Powered Entra Intelligence
Entra Intelligence serves as Vecima’s flagship artificial intelligence-powered operational awareness and control platform tailored specifically for modern broadband access networks. The platform spans a wide range of critical network functions, including service provisioning, dynamic configuration, streaming telemetry, fault analysis, event correlation, and AI-recommended, operator-approved network remediation. Akleza’s CableDiag software platform complements these capabilities by continuously monitoring the overall health of broadband networks and helping network engineers identify emerging problems well before they escalate into service-affecting issues for end consumers.
With the integration of CableDiag, network operators gain the ability to pinpoint both the exact location and the precise nature of a network fault remotely. In many instances, operators can isolate the issue down to a specific street segment. Depending on the nature of the fault, operators can either clear the problem remotely without needing to dispatch a field technician or equip a technician with the precise diagnostic insights required to resolve the issue efficiently on the very first visit. This level of precision helps lower operational expenditures and enhances the overall reliability of broadband services delivered to households and businesses.
When combined with Vecima’s existing Entra vCMTS and Remote PHY Devices, CableDiag provides cable operators with comprehensive, end-to-end visibility stretching all the way from the central headend down to the individual customer cable modem. These field-proven analytics are seamlessly woven into the broader Entra Intelligence portfolio, offering a unified user experience. In addition, the software is engineered to be entirely vendor-agnostic. This means it is fully compatible with all leading CMTS and vCMTS platforms currently on the market, allowing operators to deploy the software alongside their existing network infrastructure without requiring disruptive hardware replacements or heavy capital expenditures.
Industry observers and network professionals will have the opportunity to see the expanded capabilities firsthand. Vecima has announced plans to demonstrate its Entra Intelligence platform, featuring the newly acquired CableDiag analytics engine alongside the Entra vPON Manager, at the upcoming SCTE TechExpo 2026. The event is scheduled to take place in Atlanta from September 29 to October 1, where Vecima will be exhibiting at Booth B362.
