LOS ANGELES — In a significant development bridging the sectors of advanced software-defined radio technology and space-enabled energy infrastructure, AnySignal announced an agreement today to deliver comprehensive space-to-earth communications for Reflect Orbital’s upcoming inaugural satellite and two subsequent orbital missions.
Under the terms of the new agreement, AnySignal will supply its advanced USX space transceivers to support flight operations for Reflect Orbital’s spacecraft series. Additionally, the partnership will implement AnySignal’s proprietary AnyLink software to manage critical ground connectivity. This landmark agreement solidifies AnySignal’s position as the official communications partner for Reflect Orbital, effectively bridging spacecraft radio hardware directly with diverse ground network infrastructure through a unified architectural approach.
The collaboration brings together two innovative companies operating at the forefront of the commercial space industry. Reflect Orbital is developing unique space-enabled infrastructure designed to redirect sunlight to precise locations on Earth. The company’s ambitious mission includes extending electricity generation capabilities at terrestrial solar farms and providing targeted illumination to assist search-and-rescue teams in locating individuals at night, as well as helping construction crews operate more safely after dark. To execute these novel space operations, Reflect Orbital requires a robust, reliable, and streamlined communication system capable of handling high-rate data payloads and maintaining constant operational oversight.
To meet these demanding operational requirements, Reflect Orbital satellites will integrate the AnySignal USX transceiver, a sophisticated multi-band software-defined radio unit. Traditional satellite architectures often require multiple separate hardware modules to manage distinct frequency bands for payload data downlinks and Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (TT&C) operations. In contrast, the USX unit efficiently consolidates these high-rate payload downlinks and TT&C functions within a single, highly integrated hardware module.
By combining these vital functions into one compact unit, the configuration successfully eliminates the need for separate radios dedicated to different frequency bands. This consolidation yields critical engineering advantages for the satellite bus, most notably reducing overall mass and minimizing complex cabling requirements—factors that are always at a premium during spacecraft design and launch preparation.
Beyond the space segment, the agreement encompasses the implementation of AnySignal’s AnyLink software to streamline and manage ground-based operations. AnyLink functions as an advanced software interface that seamlessly aggregates access to multiple ground-station-as-a-service (GSaaS) providers. Instead of forcing satellite operators to navigate and integrate disparate communication networks independently, this technology enables operators at Reflect Orbital to access and utilize different third-party ground networks through a single, cohesive architecture. This unified approach drastically simplifies the daily management of satellite passes and data retrieval.
Leadership from both organizations emphasized the strategic value of the partnership in de-risking early mission phases and allowing engineering teams to concentrate on their core innovations.

“AnySignal is excited to provide Reflect with full-stack communications for their upcoming missions,” said John Malsbury, CEO and Co-Founder of AnySignal. “This agreement reflects the power of AnySignal’s operating system for the electromagnetic spectrum. The AnySignal operating system, including radio hardware and ground networking, solves technical RF problems so that innovative customers like Reflect Orbital can focus on their groundbreaking missions.”
Reflect Orbital’s leadership echoed these sentiments, highlighting how the end-to-end nature of the solution relieves traditional engineering bottlenecks associated with space communications architecture.
“We selected AnySignal for both our flight radio and ground connectivity software because it delivers a true end-to-end comms solution,” said Ben Nowack, Co-Founder and CEO of Reflect Orbital. “AnySignal has helped us de-risk early operations and let us focus on engineering the novel parts of our spacecraft.”
The partnership highlights the growing industry trend toward vertically integrated or highly interoperable communication solutions in the commercial space market. As private enterprises deploy increasingly complex satellite constellations for specialized commercial, civil, and defense applications, the demand for adaptable, software-defined radio systems and unified ground station management tools continues to accelerate.
AnySignal operates as a U.S.-based aerospace and defense technology company dedicated to building what it terms the operating system for the electromagnetic spectrum. The enterprise designs, builds, integrates, and operates comprehensive, end-to-end radio-frequency (RF) systems tailored for civil, commercial, and national security customers. Its technologies are engineered to help operators sense, connect, and defend assets across all domains—including land, air, sea, and space—delivering the flexible spectrum capabilities modern missions require.
Meanwhile, Reflect Orbital continues to advance its pioneering vision of delivering energy abundance and illumination to a changing world. Company leadership believes that reliable access to affordable energy serves as the foundational bedrock for human progress, economic growth, and a healthier planet. By unlocking additional potential from the sun through orbital reflection technology, the company aims to address pressing terrestrial power and safety challenges.
With the communications agreement now officially in place, both companies are pressing forward with preparations for the upcoming launch sequence, marking another milestone in the rapid evolution of commercial space applications.
